Jose Alguacil

José Alguacil returns for his third season as the team's first base coach, his 13th season overall in the organization. Alguacil will continue to oversee bunting instruction along with assisting Ron Wotus with infield defense and baserunning.

The 46-year-old began his managing career in the short season New York-Penn League with the 2004 Vermont Expos, spending three years with the club. In 2007, he rejoined the Giants as a roving minor league infield instructor and worked eight years (2007-2014) in that post before returning to managing in 2015 (double-A Richmond) and 2016 (triple-A Sacramento).

A native of Caracas, he played minor league baseball in the Giants' and Chicago White Sox' organizations, as well as in the Independent leagues from 1993 to 2001.

He signed with the Giants as a 20-year-old infielder from Venezuela in 1993.
