Christopher Lee Stratton Bio Info

Attended Mississippi State University. Named SEC Pitcher of the Year as a junior in 2012 after going 11-2 record with a 2.38 ERA over 17 appearances (12 starts). Was a consensus First Team All-American. Won the 2012 Ferriss Trophy as the top collegiate baseball player in the state of Mississippi and was a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award (National Player of the Year).

2016

Appeared in seven games with the Giants, allowing four runs on 11 hits in 10.0 innings (3.60 ERA). Was recalled from triple-A Sacramento on May 28 while the team was in Denver…took the roster spot of RHP Matt Cain. Made his Major League debut on May 30 at Atlanta, tossing a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts. Was rewarded with his first Major League victory on June 11 vs. Los Angeles-NL, despite allowing a go-ahead solo home run to Adrian Gonzalez in the top of the 10th inning. Was recalled from triple-A Sacramento on June 14 after RHP Matt Cain was placed back on 15- day DL...had been optioned the day before when Cain was activated for his start. Went 12-6 with a 3.87 ERA (54er, 125.2ip) in 21 games (20 starts) for the River Cats.

2015

Split the season between double-A Richmond and triple-A Sacramento, combining for a 5-10 record and a 3.95 ERA in 26 games (all starts)...threw 148.0 innings and registered 111 strikeouts between the two teams....Started 17 games with the River Cats and went 4-5 with a 3.86 ERA with 72 strikeouts in 98.0 innings....Was a non-roster invitee to Giants spring camp for the first time....Added to San Francisco's 40-man roster on November 20, 2015. 

2014

Combined to go 8-9 with a 4.78 ERA (65er, 122.1ip) in 24 outings (23 starts) with San Jose (A) and Richmond (AA). Began the season with Class A Advanced San Jose, going 7-8 with a 5.07 ERA (56er, 99.1ip) in 19 appearances (18 starts). Was promoted to double-A Richmond July 29 and went 1-1 with a 3.52 ERA (9er, 23.0ip) in five starts. His 102 strikeouts with San Jose were the seventh-most in the California League at the time of his call-up.

2013

Ranked ninth in the South Atlantic League in ERA (3.27) and tied for 10th in wins (9). Was a mid-season All-Star in the South Atlantic League. Prior to the 2013 campaign, Baseball America ranked Stratton as the Giants' third best prospect.

2012

Began his professional career with short-season Salem-Keizer and did not pitch after August 20 due to a concussion, sustained when he was struck in the head by a line drive during batting practice.
