Originally selected by Washington in the first round (15th overall) of the 2006 June Draft out of Monsignor Edward Pace High School in Miami...Entered his senior year rated by Baseball America as the second-best draft-eligible HS prospect...Older brother, Christian, has played in the White Sox (2006-11, 2014-15), Braves (2012, 2013), and Pirates (2012) systems...Cousin, Deven, has played in the Boston organization since being drafted in 2012...Helped Team USA's youth squad win a silver medal at the 2004 Pan-Am Championship Qualifier in Lagos De Moreno, Mexico, leading the tournament field in HR (5) and RBI (16).
2016Re-signed with the Red Sox in the offseason as first base and outfield depth following a 22-game stint with Pawtucket in 2015...Finished fourth in the International League in both homers (23) and slugging percentage (.494) and ranked sixth with an .838 OPS (his home run total was also tops among all Red Sox minor leaguers)...Earned mid-season and postseason All-Star mentions in the triple-A circuit...He homered to secure the International League's Top Star award at the triple-A All-Star Game, two days after winning the Home Run Derby.
2015Combined with three teams in the White Sox and Boston organizations to hit .271 with 16 doubles and seven homers in 70 games...Also played in 37 independent league games, beginning the season with Somerset of the Atlantic League...led the Patriots in batting average (.311), hits (46), doubles (12), homers (6), and RBI (22) at the time his contract was purchased by the White Sox on June 5...Assigned to double-A Birmingham and hit .324 in nine games with the Barons before being transferred to triple-A Charlotte on June 16...Was released on Aug. 6...signed by Boston to a minor league contract on Aug. 15 and assigned to triple-A Pawtucket...Following the season, appeared in 22 games for Margarita of the Venezuelan Winter League.

2013Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Syracuse in the Washington system...Was 2nd on the club in RBI (59), 3rd in HR (11) and 5th in total bases (164)...Had season-high 3 hits five times (last July 12)...Batted .400/.438/.700 in a 16-game stretch, April 14-30...Had season-long 11-game hit streak twice, May 10-20 (.319/.353/.511) and May 23-June 3 (.348/.388/.543)...Also appeared in 8 games for the Nationals, collecting a hit in each of his last two games (June 23 vs. COL and 27 vs. ARI)...Played for Licey in the Dominican Winter League after the season.
2012 Played in just 53 games at 5 levels in Washington's system...spent majority of the spring and summer rehabbing a severe left hamstring strain suffered on Nov. 15 while playing for Licey in the Dominican Winter League...during '12 domestic season, homered once apiece for Auburn (shortseason Single-A), Potomac (Single-A) and Harrisburg (Double-A). 2011 Batted .248 with 5 doubles and 10 RBI in 31 late-season games with Washington in first taste of big league action ... recalled earlier in the afternoon, made MLB debut on Aug. 27 at CIN and finished 1-for-4 ... first hit was a single to left field off Mike Leake in the 4th inning ... hit safely in 14 of initial 17 games to begin MLB career ... committed 2 errors in MLB debut, but played error-free ball the remainder of the season to post a .993 fielding percentage (two errors in 270 total chances) at first base ... hit .300 with 30 doubles, 14 home runs, 69 RBI, 58 walks and 59 runs scored in 127 games with Triple-A Syracuse ... at the time of his promotion to the big leagues, ranked among International League leaders in hits (2nd, 145), on-base percentage (tied third, .375), batting average (fifth), doubles (sixth), walks (tied eighth) and OPS (10th, .825) ... earned Triple-A Syracuse Player of the Month honors in July. 2010 At age of 21, in first complete Double-A season with Harrisburg, ranked among Nationals farmhands in RBI (3rd, 82), homers (tied 5th, 18) and batting (6th, .294)...hit .304 with RISP...10 of 18 homers came with men on...was midseason Eastern League All-Star...following season, hit .306 in 23 games for Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League. 2009 Combined to hit .284 with 27 doubles, 17 home runs and 76 RBI in 135 combined games with Double-A Harrisburg and Single-A Potomac...earned a spot on the CL's post-season All-Star team. 2008 Suffered season-ending injury (broken right fibula) sliding into home plate, June 18 at Winston-Salem. 2007 Led Washington chain with 88 RBI...was Single-A South Atlantic League All-Star selection. 2006 Batted .309 with 16 RBI in just 22 games with Rookie-level GCL Nationals, but debut was cut short by viral meningitis.
