OAKLAND -- Trailing the Oakland A's, 4-0, with one out in Tuesday's fourth inning after losing eight of their last 11 games, the Giants really needed a break. They didn't get it via replay challenge.

Pablo Sandoval hit a looper that dropped in front of shortstop Jed Lowrie, who threw to first. First-base umpire Mark Ripperger ruled that Sandoval was out on a close play. After video review, the umpires ruled that the play would stand.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy is now 16-for-25 in replay reviews this season.
