The afflicted area is on the outer left edge of Crawford's foot, which he reported as feeling sore. Bochy said that Crawford's foot also was somewhat swollen.
Bochy affirmed that Crawford was out of Saturday's lineup due primarily to his injury and not because of the lefty-vs.-lefty matchup he would have faced against D-backs starter Wade Miley.
Crawford, who has appeared in 91 of San Francisco's 96 games, was hurt after he hit a two-out comebacker to Bell. Hustling up the first-base line, Crawford ran toward the bag and slid into it feet-first as Bell, who's listed at 250 pounds compared to Crawford's 215, tumbled over him. Technically, Crawford was mildly spiked, since a hole remained in his left shoe where one of Bell's cleats penetrated it.
