SAN DIEGO -- Outfielder Jeff Francoeur and reliever Santiago Casilla likely could join the Giants on Saturday, manager Bruce Bochy said.
Francoeur, a .264 lifetime hitter who has played for the Braves, Mets, Rangers and Royals in nine seasons, hit .154 (2-for-13) with two RBIs in his first three games with the Giants' Triple-A Fresno affiliate after signing a Minor League deal with the Giants on Tuesday. Bochy said Friday that the right-handed-batting Franceour probably will platoon with left-handed-batting Kensuke Tanaka in left field.
Francoeur will become the seventh Giant to play left field this season, joining Tanaka, Andres Torres, Gregor Blanco, Francisco Peguero, Cole Gillespie and Brett Pill.
Casilla hasn't pitched since May 20, shortly before he underwent surgery for removal of a cyst from his right knee. The Giants' top right-handed setup man had a 3-2 record with a 1.89 ERA in 21 appearances before he went on the disabled list.
