SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Ryan Vogelsong's six sparkling innings in Wednesday's 10-inning scoreless tie with the Brewers continued a familiar trend: The Giants' starters are thriving.

Vogelsong, Matt Cain, Madison Bumgarner, Tim Lincecum and Barry Zito have combined for a 1.80 ERA in their most recent outings. They've allowed 15 hits and struck out 19 in 25 innings.

"It seems that things are falling in place for all of us," said Vogelsong, who surrendered three hits in his first performance for the Giants since returning from his stint with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic. "It's better to be that way than fighting the other way."

As well as Vogelsong pitched, he still found flaws to address. For instance, he was dissatisfied with his changeup.

"There's always stuff to clean up," he said. "I missed some pitches that in the regular season probably don't get fouled off. So I definitely got away with a few that I need to work on."

Left-hander Jeremy Affeldt also appeared in his first game since participating for the U.S. in the Classic and worked a perfect seventh inning. Left-hander Javier Lopez, who had been scored upon in three of his previous four Cactus League games, struck out two in a three-up, three-down eighth.

"I'm sure he needed that for his sanity," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Lopez, who entered the game with an 18.90 ERA.
