Infielder Jose Lopez, a 2006 All-Star at second base, is taking his career to Japan.

Lopez, 29, has signed a one-year deal with the Yomiuri Giants, the 2012 Japan Series champions, according to multiple reports. Lopez will make $1.2 million in 2013 with $500,000 available in performance bonuses and a club option for '14, according to CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman.

Lopez played seven seasons with Seattle, his best coming in '06, when he hit .282 with a .319 on-base percentage while slugging .405. Lopez also spent time with the Rockies and Marlins in 2011 and the Indians and White Sox last year.

He hit .246 with four home runs in only 81 Major League games in 2012 and also saw time with Triple-A Columbus and Charlotte.

During his nine seasons in the Majors, Lopez recorded a .262 average, 92 home runs and 480 RBIs.
