SAN FRANCISCO -- Both Hector Sanchez and manager Bruce Bochy said Monday that they expect the Giants' backup catcher to be able to return when he is eligible to be activated from the disabled list Aug. 2.
"I'll be ready before that because I feel great now," Sanchez said.
Sanchez sprained his left knee against the Braves on Tuesday. He said that he has started running and has minimal soreness, and he expects to be able to take batting practice within the next few days.
"I think he'll be ready in 15 days, he's doing fine," Bochy said before Monday's game. "Today, he's going to get down there in the catcher's position and do a few things, so we expect him to be ready in 15 days."
