SAN FRANCISCO -- Sunday marks the final opportunity for fans to contribute to the Giants' annual Junior Giants Stretch Drive. The Stretch Drive, created in honor of Hall of Fame first baseman Willie "Stretch" McCovey, supports the Junior Giants, which is the signature endeavor of the Giants Community Fund. The Junior Giants is a non-competitive baseball program with more than 20,000 boys and girls participating in approximately 80 communities throughout Northern California, Nevada and Oregon. A $50 donation gives one child the opportunity to play an entire season in the Junior Giants program. In gratitude, donors will receive a commemorative Buster Posey bobblehead. Higher donation levels, listed on jrgiants.org, also provide thank-you gifts from McCovey or Posey.
Volunteers will collect donations at AT&T Park in Willie Mays Plaza and at the Community Clubhouse on the promenade level. Fans also can contribute online at jrgiants.org. For more information on the Giants Community Fund and Junior Giants baseball, visit jrgiants.org or call 877-JR-GIANT.
