"Everything's going in the right progression," he said.Appearing in a Major League game before the season ends remains Frandsen's goal. Ideally, he'll report to San Francisco's instructional-league camp in Arizona beginning Sept. 20 and play there for several days before rejoining the Giants during the season's final week. Frandsen jokingly told reporters that even if he played briefly, they'd be spared from having to chronicle everything he does for the first time in 2009. But Frandsen's aware that when he gets back on the field isn't up to him.
"It's management's decision and the trainers' decision and the doctors' decision," he said.At the very least, Frandsen felt thrilled to accompany the team on the road for the first time this season. He joined the Giants for a late-May series at Arizona, but only because he was rehabilitating his injury at the team's Scottsdale training complex. "It feels like I'm still part of the team," Frandsen said. "I don't have to watch it on the Internet, like I do every game. I'm very thankful for just being able to come out here."
