DENVER -- Five members of the Class A San Jose Giants, the largest representation among California League teams, have been named to the squad that will represent the league in its June 24 All-Star Game against Carolina League counterparts. The Giants' contingent consists of catcher Pablo Sandoval and pitchers Tim Alderson, Jesse English, Kevin Pucetas and Ben Snyder. Also, manager Steve Decker, who has led the Giants to league-best 41-23 record entering Tuesday, will pilot the California League team, an honor resulting from San Jose's 2007 league title. Sandoval began Tuesday with a league-high .364 batting average and 83 hits. He also ranked second in runs (53) and slugging percentage (.605).
Alderson (6-2, 3.27 ERA), English (8-2, 2.84), Pucetas (7-0, 2.54) and Snyder (7-2, league-best 2.06) have helped San Jose fashion a 2.91 ERA, lowest in the league.
