Giants send prospect Brown to Minors camp

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Giants reassigned center fielder Gary Brown to Minor League camp, intent on getting more activity for one of their top prospects.

Brown, San Francisco's No. 1 selection in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, had played 28 innings in center this spring, behind projected Opening Day starter Angel Pagan (41) and non-roster sensation Gregor Blanco (38). Brown hit .182 (2-for-11) in seven Cactus League games.

Brown, 23, likely will begin the season at Double-A Richmond after hitting .336 last year at high-Class A San Jose.
