Giants on the mound:
Matt Cain had good stuff, striking out six in four innings, but two fielding errors and Betancourt conspired against him. Relievers Erick Threets and Merkin Valdez, both out of Minor League options and striving to make the Opening Day roster, each pitched a scoreless inning.
