Mariners at the plate: Left fielder Raul Ibanez went 2-for-3, raising his Cactus League batting average to .444 (20-for-45). Backup catcher Rene Rivera and third baseman Gookie Dawkins each drove in two runs in a five-run ninth inning.

Giants at the plate: Catcher Eliezer Alfonzo doubled home two runs in the second inning and hit a two-run home run in the fourth, his first of the spring. Left fielder Todd Linden went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Designated hitter Barry Bonds lined out to right field in the first and doubled in the third in his only at-bats.

Mariners on the mound: Left-handed starter Horacio Ramirez labored through a wind-blown second inning, when the Giants scored four runs on five hits. He made it through six innings, one fewer than scheduled. Left-handed reliever George Sherrill pitched one scoreless inning.

Giants on the mound: Starter Matt Morris worked six strong innings, holding the Mariners to two runs and seven hits. Three of the hits came in his final inning of work. Right-handed reliever Vinnie Chulk chucked one scoreless inning.

Cactus League records: Mariners 12-17 ; Giants 14-15.
