PHILADELPHIA -- For the second night in a row, left-hander Madison Bumgarner was available for relief duty in the National League Championship Series against Philadelphia.
But manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday that if Bumgarner somehow were to appear in Game 2, the rookie still would be ready to start Game 4 on Wednesday at AT&T Park.
"With days off before his start, he would still be available," Bochy said of Bumgarner, who threw briefly in the bullpen Saturday.
Bumgarner made 18 appearances this year, all starts. He posted a 7-6 record with a 3.00 ERA.
