Open subject: The Giants have won Game 1 in each of their last four Division Series now, going on to win the series just one of the previous three occasions.
Split thinking: If the Braves are able to tie the series, they have to like their position. Eight of the 11 teams that tied the Division Series since 1995 have gone on to win the series. Overall, in series that split the first two games, the winner of Game 2 went on to win it in 11 of 19 such series.
Won 2: The winner of Game 2 in the Division Series in the Wild Card era has won the series 47 out of 60 times.
Bobby's legacy: Bobby Cox has taken Braves teams to the Division Series 11 times previously, and six of those times the Braves were down, 1-0. They advanced only once, rallying for three straight wins over the Astros in 1999. One of those losing series was a sweep (Cardinals, 2000), one went to four games and three went to five games -- including in 2002, when the Giants beat them en route to the World Series.
Support me: Giants Game 2 starter Matt Cain was 11-0 with a 2.35 ERA this season when receiving at least three runs of support in a game. He has gone 49-8 for his career with three or more runs of support.
Support me, too: Braves Game 2 starter Tommy Hanson had a span of five starts in which he went at least six innings while allowing no more than one earned run -- yet he went 0-2 with three no-decisions in those starts from July 27 to August 16. According to Elias Sports Bureau, Hanson is the first pitcher to go through such a streak without a win since 1913, when earned runs became an official statistic.
Rhymes with orange: It's Friday, so the Giants will be wearing their solid orange jerseys, just as they did every Friday night home game during the season. They went 9-4 in the creamsicle hue.
Orange, too: Not only has San Francisco City Hall been bathed in orange light this week, but famous Coit Tower atop Telegraph Hill also has gotten the treatment.
