Giants hit with second straight rainout

SAN FRANCISCO -- The Giants' unwanted vacation continues.

For the second straight day, San Francisco's scheduled game Wednesday against the Houston Astros was postponed.

Tuesday's series opener was already rescheduled as a split doubleheader for Thursday, with Game 1 at 12:35 p.m. PT and Game 2 at 6:05 p.m. PT.

Wednesday's game will be made up at 7:15 p.m. PT on Monday, May 8, when the Giants have an off-day after playing the previous night in Philadelphia and before opening a home series with the Cubs.

The Astros also are off that day, between series at Colorado and at Los Angeles.

Matt Morris (1-0, 1.42 ERA), who was supposed to start Tuesday and then got pushed back to Wednesday, will instead start Thursday afternoon against Houston's Brandon Backe (1-0, 1.50 ERA).

The nightcap will feature the Giants' Matt Cain (0-0, 6.00 ERA) dueling Roy Oswalt (1-0, 3.14 ERA) of the Astros.

The Giants have only had back-to-back home rainouts once before since moving to San Francisco, when two games against the Cardinals were washed out on April 21 and 22, 1961.
