Utley, Clemens pace Team USA past Giants

USA at the plate: Chase Utley went 5-for-5 with a two-run homer in the eighth, while Chipper Jones hit a two-run homer to right-center to highlight a six-run uprising during the scheduled 10-inning exhibition contest.

Giants at the plate: Steve Finley's hot spring continued, as he smacked two doubles and drove in a run, raising his average to .625 over three games. Angel Chavez added a single and double.

USA on the mound: Starter Roger Clemens pitched two scoreless innings, giving up a double and striking out three. He threw 29 pitches. Reliever Al Leiter gave up four runs in the third, including a tally on a wild pitch. The winner was Chad Cordero.

Giants on the mound: Starter Matt Morris pitched two scoreless frames, but yielded three runs on three hits in the third. Reliever Jamey Wright allowed one run over 2 1/3 frames, and losing pitcher Jack Taschner gave up the two-run shot to Utley.

Up next: Team USA hosts Mexico at Chase Field in Phoenix at 2 p.m. MT on Tuesday, with RHP Jake Peavy opposing RHP Rodrigo Lopez. The Giant face the Angels at Scottsdale Stadium at 12:05 p.m. PT on Monday, with Noah Lowry slated to oppose Jeff Weaver.
