SAN FRANCISCO -- After two days of hitting eighth, Freddy Sanchez returned to the second spot Tuesday against the Marlins. Sanchez has struggled lately, hitting only .192 (10-for-52) in his past 13 games, but went 2-for-2 Monday and also knocked out a hit Sunday against Arizona. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said he had told Sanchez the switch was only temporary, but thinks giving Sanchez the day off Saturday helped more than the short-term drop in the order.
"It was time for him to take a break," Bochy said. "He has been swinging better and he's back in the two-hole and hopefully he'll continue to so we get our table setters on and drive them in."
